Up to 3rd Dan (Sandan) all Dan Grade promotions will be made by way of a Grading examination.  For 4th Dan (Yondan) and above, Associations will promote currently practacing Karateca who have in their Associations opinion contributed to the furtherance of Karate at the Association.

Dan Grades & Dan Grade assessments take place every 3 months.  Students must attend their required assessments in order to complete their Dan Grade.  Dan Grades hold a £50 registration fee, and is payable on day of grade.

(Godan) 5th Dan, 5 years since 4th Dan & 35 years +

(Hachidan) 8th Dan, 8 years since 7th Dan & 58 years +
